ANN PATCHETT, the author of nine novels, four nonfiction books and two children’s books, recently officiated a wedding in Nashville, where she lives. Preparing brought her back to her 20s, when she wrote so frequently for the magazine Bridal Guide that some issues were populated entirely by her articles, bylined under different names. For one assignment, Patchett called every happily married person she knew to ask for one pro tip on maintaining a successful union. The advice she got from her stepmother has stayed with her ever since.

Byrne, photographed at Rucola in Brooklyn, spends her Monday mornings doing chores and recovering from the weekend’s mayhem. Waking up early is one of the things that makes Rose Byrne feel most productive, and mouth tape is one of the things that helps her get the best night’s sleep. “I’ve become fanatical about nose breathing. Did you read that book, Breath?” says the actor, 44, referring to journalist James Nestor’s book on the science and history of breathing. What I was doing was, my mouth was falling open, and I was feeling so gross the next day.”

On a Tuesday in late April, Meghan Grimm and two of her college interns gathered around her dining-room table for an all-hands meeting. Improvising an office setup in her Greenwich Village one-bedroom, Grimm displayed a laptop on her kitchen island that featured a third intern on video and an elaborate, color-coded spreadsheet filled with the names of celebrities, executives and socialites.
Beauty entrepreneur Anastasia Soare used to have pencil-thin, round eyebrows—one of her biggest grooming regrets. “In pictures, I looked surprised all the time,” she said. Realizing the shape wasn’t flattering changed her life, she said, and she wanted to help enlighten other women. Ms. Soare, 65, opened the salon Anastasia Beverly Hills in 1998, using a now-trademarked ratio technique to shape the brows of clients including Naomi Campbell and Cindy Crawford. She is still responsible for some of the most famous brows in the world, including those of Kim Kardashian, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
GRAND CAYMAN—At a sunny beachside lunch earlier this month, concierge Bambi Grimotes was sketching an itinerary for a short stay at Palm Heights, a boutique hotel here in the Cayman Islands. Bambi—whom guests refer to mononymously, as they would Madonna—is the hotel’s master of ceremonies, whose job it is to hang out with vacationers, host monthly dinner parties and MC its increasingly packed Saturday karaoke night. “You would probably need some sort of massage,” he said, estimating that most guests need two days for their nervous systems to submit to the slowed-down pace of Palm Heights. “My goal is for you to feel rich. That’s how I feel.

Taylor Swift fans are waiting to see how she might address the end of her relationship on tour. Photo: John Shearer/Getty Images for TAS Rights ManagementLike many Taylor Swift fans, Michelle Lopez, 27, was sad to see reports this month that the singer had ended her six-year relationship with actor Joe Alwyn. “The things she’d write about him made the relationship seem like it was a fairy tale love story,” said Ms. Lopez, a social-media analyst in Chicago, citing such songs as “Call It What You Want” and “Invisible String.” But she sees at least one upside: The breakup could bode well for Ms. Swift’s ever-evolving “Eras Tour” set list.
In the hit sitcom “New Girl,” Zooey Deschanel plays a quirky teacher living in a loft full of guys. A millennial “Friends” of sorts, the show wrapped on Fox in 2018 and got a streaming boost from Netflix . By the constant flow of social-media memes—TikTok videos about her character Jess Day’s “twee core” style; jokes on Twitter about her roommates Nick, Schmidt and Winston—one could easily mistake it for an ongoing series. Would she ever reprise her role as Jess?
